Hey guys!

I know I've been gone for a couple of months and so much has happened since my last post. I don't want to get into too much detail but I accepted a great job at a great company and I could not be happier with where I am right now. It's 2018, it's a new year, and tbh I would like it to be a new me but I'm same old same old. Still trying to live my life, survive the frigid winters in New England, and travel as much as possible.

If you've followed my blog for a while, you know I've been wearing Warby Parker glasses for a couple of years now and I love them. My current glasses are a cute round pair in a darkish blue, which is fun and surprisingly unique at least in my personal circle of friends/coworkers.

But I've been toying with the idea of changing up my Harry Potter vibes and going for something lighter/warmer toned. And if you're like me and just need a little something different this year, you definitely need to check out Warby Parker's Spring 2018 Collection (which coincidentally ahem launched today). Click here if you want to shop and search for styles.

For those of you who are new to Warby Parker, they're basically an eyewear company that aims to provide affordable glasses in a fun and convenient way. If you aren't situated near a physical store like I am, you can pick out several glasses on their website and they'll ship it to you to try for free. Easy peasy.

SPRING 2018
A little more on the Spring Collection:

The glasses in this collection definitely look a lot lighter and warmer, with some pops of bold blues. You'll see a lot of clear glasses (I know so many people who are currently rocking them) as well as a few punches of tortoise accents here and there. I do have a few personal faves, which I'll share in a bit but here's a couple of pictures in case you are interested in ones that I'm not styling today.

~~~~~~~~
As a celebration of my brief return to blogging, I wanted this to be a special post and bring together my love for styling and my love for this brand in an awesome way. So below, you'll find a couple of outfits I've styled inspired by these new specs in the collection...as always, let me know which one was your favorite!
~~~~~~~~

Warby Parker Spring 2018

Meet Nora.
She's chill, she's casual, she's comfortable. She likes looking put-together, maybe even a little edgy. She has a big personality and definitely has a lot of quirks but you know her and love her.

These glasses, to me, are so far from a traditional look. The color is bold but not in your face. They're really sleek but the warmth from the tortoise makes them perfect for everyday wear. I decided to pair them with an outfit that is great for Spring when it's still cold but starting to transition to warmer months. I went with staples like a fitted striped dress and a leather jacket but added some spice with the pin and the lighter blue color. It's casual done in the most elevated way.

Warby Parker Spring 2018 #2

Meet Louise.
She's the most fashionable girl you know. She's the first to pick up on trends and isn't afraid to experiment. Her style is a mix between retro and modern.

These specs have an interesting color combo and I definitely wanted to play off that unique vibe to create this outfit that features bold colors. The mustard with the teal with the forest green is definitely a little out of the box but it works. For Spring, loafers/slides are a key piece even in my wardrobe. And you can never go wrong with a chunky sweater.

Hughes

Hughes by jennnngo featuring a fossil mens wallet

Meet Hughes.
He's a classic, guy-next-door type of guy. He likes his simple brown leather wallets, his sweater-over-button-up combos, and a nice clean shave. He drinks coffee that he makes at home. He believes in good quality and he knows it when he sees it.

The final pair of glasses that I picked out to style are these clear frames. I think the rectangular shape is a little more on the classic side as opposed to round glasses which can often look playful and slightly more modern. The clear aspect of it though does make it more updated and even though Hughes prefers the simple classics, I can see these glasses being his one fun accessory.

~~~~~~~~
I hope you guys enjoyed this. It was so much fun for me to do, especially since I haven't been styling clothes in a while (I currently style home decor stuff which is equally exciting but def different for me). Leave it below or tweet me, which (or should I say who) was your fave??
Stay warm, guys!
Hello lovelies, how has your weekend been so far? We're back to the third installment of the Runway to Real Life series where I style everyday, wearable outfits based on runway looks. This time, we're focusing on the Spring 2016 Couture collections, including Zuhair Murad, Valentino, Elie Saab, and Alexandre Vauthier. Leave it down below which designer is your favorite and I'll try to add it in the next Runway to Real Life post :)
~~~~~~~~

[ZM S2016 Look 1]

Zuhair Murad Spring 2016 Inspo

Zuhair Murad Spring 2016 Inspo by asmallbit featuring a leather bodycon skirt

I styled three different outfits based on certain elements in this first look, like the floral detailing, lace-like texture, white base, structure, black belt, strappy shoes, and sparkly hair decorations. For outfit #1, the fitted lace top mimics the upper part of the designer's ensemble, with a looser interpretation of the skirt. To add a bit of black for contrast, I chose black strappy heels and then finished off with a lace clutch to dress it up. Outfit #2 is a more casual look, with a white denim skirt and flats. To make it more interesting, I included some flower earrings and a vintage leather crossbody bag. The last outfit is a bit in-between. The lace sweater tones down the dressy skirt and shoes while the emerald green flower earrings add a bit of color.

[V S2016 Look 59]

Valentino Spring 2016 Inspo

Valentino Spring 2016 Inspo by asmallbit featuring a j.crew vest

To recreate this look, I chose a lot of beige, salmon, pink, as well as greys and blacks. Although this look was very soft and flowy, I did pick some pieces with a more structured feel because they may be easier to find (like a fitted dress or blazer vest). On the far left, I have the most formal outfit, with the tie and sheer skirt as well as the long blazer vest. In the middle is my favorite outfit: a cropped turtleneck with long, wide pants to mimic the flow of the designer's piece. On the far right is a glammed up version of the look, with a bright colored dress and the softness of a fur vest. I added a light scarf to create a similar feel to the tie/bow feature in the designer look.

[ES S2016 Look 31]

Elie Saab Spring 2016 Inspo

Elie Saab Spring 2016 Inspo by asmallbit featuring a leaves engagement ring

This look has a distinctive princess and fairytale feel to it. I tried to implement that vibe into each of the outfits. With the first one being the most formal and the fanciest, I piled on the diamonds, layered a fitted tee under the sleeveless dress for a more covered look, and added sky high black heels. For the next look, I tried to tone it down with a pastel purple maxi and a casual striped crop top. This is a very fun outfit for Spring and you probably have something similar in your closet already! The last one is what I would call an urban princess. It's got the glitz and glam but with a down-to-earth element with the Nike sneakers. It is also the closest to the designer's piece in that it has a very cool tone bluish grey as the foundation.

[AV S2016 Look 1]

Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2016 Inspo

Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2016 Inspo by asmallbit featuring suede boots

By far, this is my favorite set. All-black outfits are such a weakness of mine! I especially love how sexy each of these outfits are, with the addition of the black boots. It's a bit hard to see the details of each look but the one on the far left is the closest to the designer's look. It fully covers the belly and leaves just a hint of skin where the thighs are. To amp up the outfit, I chose leather thigh highs to match the leather cuffs on the sleeves of the blazer. The middle ensemble shows the most skin, with the mini tank, skort, and ankle boots. To add some roughness and to cover a bit of skin, I picked a black moto-style jacket. Finally, for a sweeter look, I paired a loose knit sweater with a black denim skirt and suede thigh highs. It's a fun mix of innocent and sexy and my personal fave styling.

~~~~~~~~
That's it for Part 3 of the Runway to Real Life series. Leave it below: Which outfit did you like the most? What designer would you like featured in the next post? Thanks again for stopping by :)
Hi everyone!
Today, we're gonna talk about the latest handbags and shoes from Dolce & Gabbana's shop. I've paired them together for your viewing pleasure (and also because I think it looks pretty and that's what it's all about, right?). Let me know which combo was your favorite. I personally love all of these because they're just really beautifully designed. Some are a bit ornate and some are a bit playful but they're all super gorgeous and I'd love to own them all (Santa, please let me win the lottery).
Okay but enough about my sad dreams. Let's look at these beauties.
We're back with the second part of the Runway to Real Life series. They're personally one of my favorite posts to do because it challenges my styling abilities, coming up with wearable outfits that still embody the trends. Let me know which one below is your favorite and how you would style things differently!
All of these are based on looks from Spring 2016 shows. I know it's only December but since the designs are out, I thought I'd give you guys a head start on freshening up your wardrobe for the upcoming year :) Enjoy!
~~~

Alexander Wang Inspired

Alexander Wang Inspired by asmallbit featuring black leather watches

From left to right, I created a chic version of the runway design with the black leather jacket, denim midi skirt, and a fishnet white top, finished with strappy black heels to match the similar vibe of the shoes shown. Then I went with a more luxurious feel, using a velvet bomber jacket, beige turtleneck, and a tighter fitted skirt. Instead of a brown belt, I chose a watch with a brown leather strap. Finally, I decided to go with a sporty, laid-back look with a classic sport jacket, a shimmery T-shirt to offset the casual vibes, and a modern A-line denim skirt with sneaker wedges.

Emilio Pucci Inspired

The key thing to remember is that these are all INSPIRATIONS! The fun part isn't replicating the look but recreating it to fit your own style. So here, I've taken elements like the pops of red, the sequins, and the white pants to develop 3 outfits: classy office, modern chill, and glam.

Iro Inspired

Iro Inspired by asmallbit featuring black false eyelashes

First up, we have a contemporary look, followed by a more feminine outfit. Finally, I added a bit of a twist to the last one, with a caged neckline rather than a lace-up and paired it with floral pants instead of a skirt. It's a bolder look, definitely more suitable for the club or a night out!

Marissa Webb Inspired

Marissa Webb Inspired by asmallbit featuring a white purse

This is personally my favorite one. I've put together a look using similar colors but without the vest to keep it light for spring. Then I decided to create an outfit that appears the most similar to the designer's. Finally, I thought I'd include a look that is best worn when it's still a bit chilly outside. I think army green and light pink is such an unexpected combo but super pretty for spring!

There you have it! Which one was your fave?? Leave it down below!

Bye for now,
Jenn

Casual Fridays

Casual Fridays by asmallbit featuring long shoulder bags

I know. It's only Monday and I'm already thinking about Friday but don't tell me you aren't thinking it too! So let's talk about Casual Fridays and what to wear if you're having trouble mixing work and play.

Now if you work in a corporate environment, the dress code can be strict to enforce formality within the workplace. If you work in a more creative setting, the dress code can be loosened to adapt to the individuality of its employees. Some companies will allow you to ditch the tie and heels on what is known as Casual Fridays. For others, everyday is Casual Friday.

So how do you incorporate work-friendly pieces with laid-back vibes?

In the interest of welcoming spring (whenever that may be in New England), I have decided to play around with a pastel color palette and lighter fabrics. My main focus for this post is the blouse. It's a key player in professional wear because with the right cut, it can flatter most body types. The blouse is also comfortable when flowy and can easily adapt itself to other styles. So whether you're wearing it for work, drinks, or a chill lunch date, the blouse will get the job done.

On the left, I paired a sleeveless layered blouse with standard khaki tailored pants to maintain comfort but still emit a professional tone. To jazz it up, I added some oxfords with a bit of shine but can be switched out for colorful floral heels after work. This really helps add dimension to an otherwise plain outfit. To keep a balance with the bold colors, I opted for a grey handbag with gold hardware that screams "I am serious business". For makeup, neutral eyes with a bold lip to match the heels will pull the entire look together.

On the right, I created a more feminine outfit but with similar elements from the other ensemble. The wide skirt adds enough length to make it work-appropriate but the light floral pattern gives it more character. To let the outfit speak for itself, I chose neutral colored heels, which also helps with lengthening the legs. Because there is quite a bit of volume in the lower half, I added a cropped fitted blazer to streamline the top half. From there, it was about adding little touches of warmth with the rose gold watch and mauve pink lipstick.

The key to dressing for a more casual work environment is to incorporate at least one tailored item into the outfit. It could be heels, a blazer, a peplum top, pants, skirt, whatever. As long as you have a piece with some structure to it, the whole outfit elevates to being professionally acceptable. From there you can play with adding color, texture, print, or layers to bring out your personal style.

What is YOUR go-to outfit for Casual Fridays? If you don't work at a company that has Casual Fridays, what do you wear to work? Let me know down below!

Pantone's 2014 Color of The Year, as I'm sure you all know by now, is Radiant Orchid.

According to Pantone..."Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health."

If you aren't the type of person to wear a lot of color (anyone else totally guilty of living in black clothing for the winter...?), now is the time to bust out a little something something for your outfits. Spring is fast approaching, or so we New Englanders like to hope, and everyone is pining for something to rejuvenate their dull wardrobe.

Let me show you how to wear Radiant Orchid, whether you love wearing bright colors or refuse to wear anything that isn't monotone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Radiant Orchid
Radiant Orchid by asmallbit featuring a clear nail polish
LOOK #1
Going Out With The Girls
Black is such a safe color to wear when you want to look put together but also dressy. Wear a flowy cropped tank top with high-waisted jeans or pants and strappy heels for the perfect outfit to get your groove on! Incorporate a bit of Radiant Orchid with your accessories, whether it be studs for a subtle touch or a small crossbody bag to break up the black.
It'll give your outfit a little more interest and on the bright side, you'll be able to spot your bag easily if you leave it somewhere!
LOOK #2
Lunch, Brunch, Dinner Date
A striped top is an essential. Skater or circle skirts have been in trend for a while now and pair well with fitted tops to give the illusion of an hourglass figure. Go for a cropped version for a more springtime appropriate look and choose a skirt that is bold in color. The Radiant Orchid color will speak for itself and the brightness of the color will lift the entire tone of the outfit. It's a wonderful alternative to the showstopper red that most people would consider a "sexy" or "attractive" color if you plan on wearing this on a date.
Tie in the color of your skirt with a necklace and keep the outfit balanced with some nude heels (they'll lengthen your legs, too. bonus!). If you really aren't feeling the colored skirt, pair the top with a black skirt and opt for a bright lipstick instead. It'll instantly brighten up the face.
LOOK #3
Frolicking in the Fields
Whether you plan on going shopping or having a picnic, this outfit is great for casual activities. Overalls have been making a comeback in the form of skirts and shorts. Go for a lighter wash denim to contrast with a bold colored top. The graphic tee I chose is fitted and cropped, to maintain the figure against the looser silhouette of the overalls. Graphic tees are fun and easy to wear. Depending on the graphic, it can be a great way to showcase your personal style and be a conversation starter!
Don't like how crazy the print is? No problem. This will look just as good with a white tee. Try a bold nail polish color to add a bit of color to the outfit. If you just aren't a fan of the brightness of the Radiant Orchid color, try a lighter tone of purple in your accessories or your shoes. Canvas sneakers are an easy way to incorporate color to an outfit (and they're wicked comfy!).
I hope these tips were helpful and you can use them as a general guide to wearing any kind of color. Happy styling!
