BTS: 3 Looks by asmallbit featuring pattern high waisted shorts

I remember always feeling this sense of unbearable dread before the first day of school. Not knowing what to expect made me feel out of control. But the one thing I looked forward to without fail was planning my outfit. What would I wear to dazzle my friends and classmates this year...to show off the "new" me after summer had passed? Thinking back, it was pretty silly of me to be so concerned with that but it allowed me to gain some semblance of control so I rolled with it.

Today, I created three different looks to hopefully inspire you to take the new school year by storm!

The first look is an easygoing jeans and T-shirt combo, when you can't be bothered to sift through your closet. Pair your favorite ripped jeans and cropped tee for a comfortable but figure-flattering outfit. If your school has strict regulations, throw on a cool-toned flannel for subtle color and extra length! Throw on a playful backpack and your trusty sneakers and off you go!

The second look is for all the girly girls out there. I am all about comfort so I opted to mix a sleek, indigo/purple/blue tank with floral shorts. As much as I like wearing skirts, shorts will help you conquer the day without worrying about anyone looking up to see your hoo-hah. Jazz the whole outfit with blinging sandals and finish with a clean, white tote to balance everything.

The third look is a sporty chic, sweatshirt and leggings combo. Without fail, leggings are basically the better looking version of sweatpants. The adidas ones I chose have stripes on the side that help elongate the legs. Plus, it's a step up from plain black ones. If you're like me and you hate showing your crotch/butt, layer the sweatshirt with a longer tank top (I picked one that matches the color of the leggings and has a nice motivational quote). This way, you can choose to take the sweatshirt off if it gets too hot by the end of the school day and still look sporty chic! Amp up the casual look with metallic sandals, pearl studs, and a structured leather bucket bag. Boom. Done.

I have been crazy obsessed with sneakers lately and I'm pretty sure it's because the sun is finally coming out of hiding. Personally, I hate wearing sweaters during the summer. The problem is that you're out and about...places indoors have the AC blasting and that chiffon top you decided to wear to tackle the heat outside just can't handle it. I end up feeling way too cold inside...and way too hot outside.

And then what do you do about those breezy summer nights? Sometimes I'll bring a sweater if I know I won't be going home for the entire day but it's annoying to carry it around when you don't want to wear it.

The summer sweatshirt is cute and pretty functional for those situations! Pick one that is slightly cropped and has short sleeves. It'll give you the air you need for when you're outdoors and a bit more substance for when you're dealing with the cold AC. Of course, there are a ton of different ways to dress it up and down. It's a blank canvas.

On the left, I have it paired with casual floral shorts in a pastel yellow color to make it a warmer and more summery outfit. I thought the vans would be a nice touch to keep it relaxed and effortless.

TIP: **If you're still scared of getting chilly and the short sleeves isn't doing it for you, try carrying around a thin tank top or camisole in your purse. They fold up nicely and aren't as bulky. Run to the bathroom and add that layer underneath the sweatshirt and you'll have a bit of extra warmth!**

On the right, I have it paired with silky loose shorts in a bright orange color along with some matching sandals. I think having the silk against the boyish sweatshirt material makes it a lot more feminine and dressier. While the sandals are typically known as a casual shoe, the patent quality of these can help you get away with wearing it to a dinner with friends and family. It's a good outfit choice for people who like staying comfortable but maybe aren't so into wearing dresses as well as those who just need a quick change from their day outfit to night outfit.

There are a million ways to wear this sweatshirt. You can pair it with a circle skirt, high waisted denim shorts, jeans, boyfriend jeans, overalls, etc. It's a versatile piece with so much potential!

Hello!

Have you guys been well? This is going to be my first official post marking the beginning of a fabulous homework-free summer. Yayyy, cue the fanfare and majestic cheers.

Even though I've been SUPER busy with school, you know there's always time for window shopping and the warm weather could not have gotten here sooner. I am so excited to wear flowy skirts and bright colors. Ah, bliss.

So I will kick start this summer with a post on my spring/summer wishlist items, just bits and bobs that I'd really love to buy (mainly because they're so cute and/or gorgeous).

There's that awkward period between the warmer months and cooler months where you don't actually know what to wear because one minute it could be 80 degrees sunny and another minute it could be 65 degrees and cloudy. How do you take what you've been wearing during those sweaty summer months and translate them into the fall?

I won't go too much into detail in this post since I've already talked about layering in my last one.

This is just a quick, SUPER SPEEDY post on an outfit I styled on Polyvore and since I liked how it turned out, I thought I'd share it with you guys. Hopefully you get some inspiration from this!

SUMMER ELEMENTS
1. The bustier (personally my favorite): Easy to wear for the summer, whether you like wearing them on their own, with a sweater, or under a sheer top.

2. Denim shorts: Do I even have to explain this!?

BRINGING IT ON OVER TO FALL

1. Some days will be a little cooler than what you're used to during those hotter months so I suggest wearing something light but still breathable. That's where the kimono comes in. The print on this one is absolutely stunning. The red also helps make it more fall appropriate as it reminds me of the changing colors of the leaves!

2. Thigh high socks: This is optional but it's a nice little layer of extra warmth in case you get cold easily.

3. We don't want the shoes to cut your legs off, since wearing thigh highs can be tricky so wearing the same color shoe will definitely help lengthen your legs. Black is always a slimming color, so that's why I chose it over any other color but feel free to experiment!

4. During this time, a lot of people are going back to school, so I included a backpack as an accessory. It's a casual element of this outfit and the brown just helps warm everything up.

5. Beanies! Hats aren't my favorite thing to wear because I am so picky about my hair but I think it adds a down-to-earth feel and brings the whole outfit together.

MAKEUP

1. This is up to you. I took the red from the kimono and translated that on the lips.

2. The eyes should be clean and natural because the rest of the outfit is pretty bold, with all the lace and studs and flowers going on. But you can opt for mascara to accent the eyes a bit.

JEWELRY

1. Keeping it simple. Like I said, there's already quite a few things going on and I don't want it to become cluttered. The bracelet is gold to match the hardware on the shorts.

2. The cat ring is just for fun but also because it reminds me of Asia for some reason and I don't know. It just goes with the kimono and flowers and such.

I spy with my little eye, some mixing of textures.

The shoes are (I assume) suede while the suit has a sheen to it. It might be satin but I'm not entirely sure. Also notice that the entire look is within the same color family but the tie has a pattern to it as well as the socks!

The length and cut of the trousers seem to be quite straight and it hits near the ankle, allowing the socks to be seen. Quite...playful?

But the earthy suede shoes bring it all back, despite the fact that the glossiness of the suit can be borderline over the top, especially in that bright bronzed salmon color.

While I'm not the biggest fan of the cut of those pants, I find the flower accent as well as the polka dot belt very cute and silly but it fits well with the coloring of the suit. Again, playing with textures but in a subtle way.

This I find very...fascinating. The contrast of the pattern on the tie and suit are surprisingly appropriate. The one on the tie is much cleaner while the suit is slightly duller but because the vest and top's colors are taken directly from the colors in the tie, it makes the model look like he knows what he's wearing. Like it was intentional.

By far, my favorite look.

It takes playing with textures to a whole other level.

Like, video games level 100 with a sword bonus. That's how much I love this and how much I think the styling for this was perfect.

Even though it looks a little busy with all the patterns floating around, it works. Why? The colors. The coloring is so basic and simple and the pattern itself isn't tacky or strange. It's condensed. The dots on the pants are micro-sized, the shoes are absolutely lovely, and that little white handkerchief is the cherry on top.

That little bit of solid color helps balance the outfit, which is amazing that something so small could play such a big role.

Okay, tell me you don't like that print/pattern on the jacket.

It's freaking adorable!

I don't know how many guys in my life would actually wear anything like that but the concept of the design is worth showing you guys, at least.

It's whimsical, simple, and eye-catching. I actually think this would be nice if there was a female version of it. I could definitely see myself wearing a cropped blazer with that dragonfly (?) print, a white t-shirt, and a coral maxi skirt.


There were pieces in the collection that I didn't care for and some were just odd. Check out the rest of the collection and let me know what you thought about the ones I chose as my favorites!
