Hello my dears! I hope you're having a great week!

Today, we're gonna talk about celebrity fashion, specifically denim. Denim is one of those staple materials that gets recycled over the years in a variety of silhouettes and washes. It's versatile and can either be really chic/classy or down-to-earth. Here's a few celeb looks featuring denim and outfits that I created inspired by these looks!

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that I do a lot of shoe posts because that's just what I'm into. So, today I decided to start a series called Obsessed (although I'm still tentative about it so if you guys have any suggestions for another name, please let me know!). Basically in this series, I will go through a list of must-haves in each shoe category, like heels, sneakers, boots, etc.

[1] United Nude Slip Ons in Navy Black White
[2] Nike Toki Slip-On in Black White
[3] Nike Roshe Run Print Sneaker in White Silver Black
[4] Vans SK8 Hi Reissue in True White Premium Leather
[5] Vans Classic Slip On in Khaki True White
[6] Puma Classic Suede Sneaker in Grey Pink

I'm kicking it off (ha ha ha) with sneakers for the fall!

You don't need me to tell you that sneakers can be worn year-round and it's true for the ones I've selected above. But, I've chosen those specific ones because I think they'll be absolutely perfect for a cooler autumn. THESE ARE NOT NECESSARILY TRENDS. These are just sneakers that I love and wish I had (insert crying laugh emoji).

Black slip-ons are a MUST for fall. Why? You can wear them with ripped jeans, dark denim, light denim, leather shorts, leather skirts, white skinny jeans, flowy midi skirts...you name it! Go for either a leather/leather looking pair for a sleeker look or pick a sporty pair to add that down-to-earth vibe.

Next, white sneakers. Good for most of the year, though I don't recommend wearing them if you're in New England like me and winters = death piles of snow and slosh. However, for fall, choose a pair with a dark pattern or again, the leathery look. I find that the leather material makes the outfit a bit "heavier" and more fall appropriate.

Last but not least, suede! You'll either LOVE or HATE it. I think it adds a nice, warm texture to outfits, especially for colder months. If you opt for a taupe colored pair, you can wear them virtually all year. Throw them on with a white denim skirt and sweater or wear your favorite jeans and t-shirt to let the shoes do the talking!

What are your favorite sneakers for the fall? Let me know down below!!

Bye for now,
Jenn

Thanks to all the fashion gurus and bloggers of the internet world, we're all familiar with this wardrobe tip. Curious?

It's versatility!

What the heck do I mean by that?

One way to conserve space in your closet or just make creating outfits much easier is to buy pieces that can be worn multiple ways. That can mean a piece that transcends genres or just a piece that works for many occasions.

One Dress, Four Looks.

For all the delicious details, please visit my polyvore!

Some people make the mistake of thinking that these versatile pieces can only be staples like a basic white T-shirt or a nice pair of denim jeans. While those are a must have in your closet and can certainly act as a versatile piece of clothing, you don't have to limit yourself to just those pieces.

It's always important to remember your own style and what you like to wear. Don't think a white T-shirt is something you'd pick out very often? Don't buy it. Maybe skinny jeans aren't your cup of joe. Try a boot cut, straight cut, flare, or wide leg!

Also note your body shape and what cuts of clothing work better for you. It's not just about playing by the rules.

Now, back on topic.

WHEN SHOPPING FOR TOPS/SWEATERS:
-Pick colors that complement the rest of your wardrobe.

-For me, shades of navy or aqua plus corals, oranges, or light oranges equals awesome.

-For cardigans or blazers (depending on your preference), ask yourself "what is the main color in my wardrobe? what can I wear this cardigan with?". If you have a lot of dark colored dresses, I recommend investing in a black cardigan as well as a grey one.

WHY??
-A black cardigan will go with black dresses but they can also work with other deeper colored dresses.

-Sometimes, you'll have events that call for something lighter or not so formal looking. A grey cardigan is nice because the contrast isn't as stark as a white cardigan but it helps lighten up the darker colored dress.

-Likewise, if you have a lot of light colored dresses like pastels, I recommend going for a white, cream, or grey cardigan.

-I also say yes to a colored cardigan, one in your favorite color, because sometimes white on white can be a little too...clean looking. For the summertime, a bright colored cardigan against a white dress will really bring a look together.

This post is going to go on for miles if I continue with all types of tops and sweaters so I'll move onto pants.

WHEN SHOPPING FOR BOTTOMS:
-If you can't live without skirts and you attend formal events often, I recommend getting a basic black skirt that is an appropriate length for your body type. I don't suggest anything too short but that's your choice! The nice thing about medium to longer length skirts is that you can always lengthen your legs with heels so that the look can go from office to night out easily.

-Navy colored skirts are a staple because they have the potential to be dressed up but can remain casual at the same time. It's also perfect if you want to go for a nautical look or fourth of July outfit.

WHEN SHOPPING BASED ON PATTERNS:
-Polka dots will always be around. I'm convinced. Get one with smaller polka dots if you prefer looking more put together and a little more mature. Go for bigger ones if you dress playfully or plan on wearing it casually.

Forever21

-Stripes are awesome. Afraid they'll make you look ten times bigger? Go for vertical ones. Or, go for horizontal ones that start near the lower half of the shirt. Even better, if the background is black! And make sure they are skinny stripes. But if you're ready to say "the heck with that!", then try a bigger bolder stripe to make a statement.

Ann Taylor

-If you're buying patterned bottoms, the only thing I would suggest is asking yourself if you'd really wear it, how often you'd wear it, and if there's more than one top you'd wear it with.

And, voila, that's it!

I hope I didn't bore you guys with this extensively long post and that you found it somewhat helpful. Case and point: shop wisely! There's no point in spending all that money if you're just going to throw it away when the trend dies down. :)

Until next time,

For those of you planning to celebrate July 4th, here are a few outfit ideas that incorporate the Independence Day spirit! These are perfect for sitting on the grass watching fireworks or mingling with friends at a bbq.

July 4th!

July 4th! by asmallbit featuring a friendship bracelet

If you'd like more details about each specific piece of clothing or accessory, please visit my polyvore at asmallbit.polyvore.com!

(From left to right)
OUTFIT #1
a) Super casual! The denim skirt gives it a down-to-earth feel while the tucked in t-shirt and belt still help maintain your womanly silhouette.
b) The cute American flag graphic is slightly faded, making it look worn in and comfortable!
c) The color of the sneakers helps brighten up the look a bit, making it more appropriate for the summertime.
d) If you find that it starts getting chilly at night, throw on a navy cardigan! The color will complement the yellow and the denim perfectly.
e) Star shaped earrings are a cute way to incorporate that aspect of the flag into your outfit if you're opting to wear a plain t-shirt.

OUTFIT #2
a) This outfit was inspired by the colors of the flag but rather than using the normal red and royal blue, I chose colors that were more summery and more in trend.
b) The polka dot pattern gives the look a bit more umf and is also kind of retro.
c) To pull the outfit together, I added polka dot flats but using a polka dot pattern that's subtler and has a solid color tip to mimic the match between the polka dot top and solid color shorts.
d) To bring out the white dots in the blouse, I chose pearl earrings.

OUTFIT #3
a) Kind of a stretch from the original American flag theme but I decided to use striped shorts in a light lavender color to represent the stripes on the flag.
b) The denim corset creates a nice solid contrast to the lighter colored shorts.
c) Since it's denim, the corset looks less risque and can be worn to many events but you can always throw something over it if you think it's a bit too inappropriate for family events.
d) I opted for JC wedges because they elongate the legs and the mint color complements the lavender quite nicely. To me, this color combo is supposed to be reminiscent of the red and blue found traditionally in the flag but that might be a little too off?
e) I added a bracelet that did have the traditional colors, just in case it didn't look patriotic enough! :)

OUTFIT #4
a) Crop tops are the epitome of summer and this pinkish reddish colored one is a great option for those who like it simple.
b) Instead of going for stripes, I decided to pair this solid tee with a small polka dot skirt that has bows going down the front. It's extremely girly!
c) Nude pumps with an ankle strap will elongate your legs and make it a little easier to walk while the peeptoe adds a feminine touch to the outfit.
d) The outfit can't be complete without matching bow earrings, of course!

OUTFIT #5
a) This last outfit is one of my favorites because it does use the classic red, white, and blue color combo.
b) I wanted it to look a bit edgier so I thought the silver skull ring would work nicely.
c) The silver tone of the jewelry matches the silver hardware on the shorts.
d) The black wedges bring the bright colors together but I will advise people to be careful when walking in these types of shoes! You can always switch this for black flats!

I sincerely hope you guys enjoyed this post! Be safe and have fun on Independence Day! :)

Until next,

A few years ago, I began noticing the ombre trend and recently, it seems that people are starting to get into it again.

Personally, I love ombre anything but I'm picky about color choices and how it actually fades. I find that sometimes, it can end up looking too tacky (which is true for a lot of things...) and that really puts me off.

Denim, however, is a super popular medium for ombre and I think ombre shorts are the perfect way to kick off the summer. Sadly, where I live, it hasn't exactly been prime weather for wearing shorts or anything summery for that matter :( {sniffles}

But hopefully you live somewhere much warmer and less rainy than I do!

Here is an example of how I'd style ombre shorts:

These outfits don't necessarily have to be worn just for dates. They're perfect for hangouts with friends, lunches with your family, and any other occasion you see fit!

I've taken some basic outfits and used various accessories to give the outfit a different "look" depending on what you personally like to wear. Some people tend to dress a little more feminine than others and some really prefer being casual at all times. The types of accessories you choose should also depend on what you and your date plan on doing as well.

Quick Recommendations:
Wear flat shoes and sneakers if you're doing a lot of walking or maybe going to an amusement park. You won't be able to have fun if your feet are hurting!

Likewise, if you know you'll be doing minimal walking, such as spending time at a restaurant or the movies, then you might consider finding accessories that you can feel comfortable wearing in a sitting position for an extended period of time. For me, bracelets can get irritating during the movies because they make sounds when you move. And, in this case, you can definitely wear shoes with a little more height as your feet won't wear out as quickly.

If you're really confident and know you can handle the height, by all means, go for a platform pump! I think this type of shoe is perfect for evening dates and can turn a daytime outfit into a nighttime outfit. If you'd like the height but don't think you can walk around in such a high heel, then wearing boots with a chunky heel might work better for you. :)

This first outfit features an open knit sweater (somewhat cropped) and a bright floral dress as the foundation. Depending on where you live, it could get chilly at night so the sweater will come in handy and it looks really cute when you have the patterned dress peeping out underneath.
Of course, these accessories will look great even without the sweater so play around with the ideas to make it fit your own style!

This second outfit is a go-to for me. You can never go wrong with a nice fitting pair of denim jeans and a cute T-shirt. It doesn't expose too much skin (which, I think is a good thing!) and it gives off a very down-to-earth vibe. If that's the kind of look you're going for, then this outfit is perfect for you!

The third outfit features chiffon dresses! One of the biggest trends from last year moving forward into this summer is the chiffon material, whether it be used for a dress, blouse, or skirt. It's lightweight and perfect for those hot summer days. I find that dresses with an A-line are also flattering on many different body shapes and sizes so I'd recommend this option to anyone!
