I converted to buying Warby Parker glasses a couple of years ago because they were affordable, stylish, and easy to work with. I've been wearing glasses since before middle school and honestly, I can't imagine buying glasses from any other place. Before you even ask, no, this is not a sponsored post. I just love them that much!

One of the most important factors for me is that they also offer an option to make the lens thinner because my prescription is quite heavy and without that feature, my glasses would probably weigh like a brick on my nose. Last summer, I switched to my current pair, the Milton in Brushed Navy--best decision ever. The nose pads help them stay on my nose longer (I have an Asian nose...they just don't hold up well with the plastic kind). Anyway, I love the round frames on my square face + I wear them all the time. *Totally worth the money*

If you are not close enough to visit an actual Warby Parker store, you can visit the website. They have a home-try on system where you pick your faves, they send it to your home, you try it on, buy the one you like, and send the testers back. It's a lot easier, of course, if you can go to the store since they have salespeople (so you can ask questions) and usually the full selection of glasses AND sunglasses.

The glasses range in price from around $95 to $195 but add-ons will cost a little more. Return is really easy. I've had to do a couple of returns when I realized the frames don't suit my face. They can also help you do exchanges as well.

Okay okay, I'm done ranting. Here are a couple of my faves right now (and currently thinking about getting).

Blair in Rose Gold: $145
More info: here

Zelda in Crystal Taupe: $145
More info: here

Durand in Deep Sea Blue: $95
More info: here

Milton in Aloe Green: $195

Which one did you like the best? Which one do you think I should get??

Hello my dears! I'm posting a bit earlier than usual since I have some time to sit down and write. This week, I ventured into uncharted territory (at least for me). Menswear has always been something I admired but never talked about. Truthfully, I don't know much but I would like to try and give my honest review on a collection that I fell in love with: Michael Bastian's Fall 2016 line. Maybe you'll fall in love, too.

If I had to describe the general feel of the collection, I would say that it's quirky but also preppy? It's pleasing to the eye and actually very wearable as far as designer pieces go. I think it's also fun to look at menswear for inspiration! It can be nice to change your perspective from always scrolling through women's clothing to seeing what's hip and happening for the guys. There's one look in particular that I think would be stunning with heels (you'll see what I mean).

All of these looks can be found here: click me!

With that, please enjoy the review (and the handsome models).

~~~~~~~~~
LOOK 3: I love the model's hairstyle. It's sleek but not overly done. The brown of the leather jacket and the blue of the button-up shirt makes it a very warm look. I think the contrast of the jacket and the unbuttoned shirt also gives it a fun, sexy flair. What really surprises me, however, is the grey pants! The cool tones work unexpectedly well with the warm tones.
LOOK 6: This outfit is great. I can see a lot of guys wearing this because it's pretty casual but there are a very elements that pull it all together. The jacket? Perfect. It's simple. There aren't a lot of unnecessary details or bright colors, which means that it will work with whatever you wear underneath. The pants? Awesome. The olive color can be a different neutral to add to the wardrobe and it's more versatile than you think! The boots? Amazing. I'd love to find the women's equivalent.
LOOK 8: I really like the plain black sunglasses. I think it toughens the outfit a bit. The blazer, turtleneck, and bottoms all look very soft and I don't mean just the texture. The whole look is very mild (compared to something hard like leather). This is the outfit I was talking about in the beginning! I think pairing a slouchy turtleneck with a soft blazer and skinny pants would be a really lovely outfit with heels. It's chic but just slightly masculine. Anyway, back to this. I do have mixed feelings about the pockets on the pants. I feel like it kind of ruins the outfit but maybe it's just me??
LOOK 9: The color of the beanie works well with the other colors here. It lightens up the darker tones like the gray sweats and navy top. Actually I really don't like sweatpants on guys because it can look sloppy but the fit of these aren't bad. It goes with the less structured jacket and beanie. Last but not least are the boots. I love brown boots. They're so down to earth and functional.
LOOK 15: I thought this was such a fun look because of all the layers! Turtleneck under a collared shirt isn't something I would have personally styled but it's pretty nice. Since they're all darker colors, it's also not that noticeable. The lighter grey vest? Probably my favorite piece from this outfit. It pops out against everything else... a very stylish item to have for Fall. But what is happening with the shoes??? No socks?! Seems a bit out of place, to be honest.
LOOK 19: I have nothing against bow ties! They're super cute and more playful than neckties but because this outfit seemed borderline school-uniform, it might have looked better with a sleek tie...without the sweater. But it's a pretty classic combo and I do think it's a versatile outfit for colder months. I think the designer made a good decision to pair with black pants and black boots because it looks more mature that way. I would have also considered pairing some kind of wool coat to brighten the ensemble but otherwise, it's a solid look.
What did you guys think? Which look was your favorite?
As per request, I am thinking of styling outfits based on The Divergent Series: Allegiant for my next post so be on the lookout for it!
Before I start the actual post, I'd like to make a statement about what happened the past week in Boston. I'm almost positive that I've never talked about where I'm from in this blog but here it is. I was born and raised in Boston and attend college very close to where the incident on Friday happened. Because I had never in my wildest dreams imagined this to unfold, I was feeling pretty scared and uncertain of what was going on. I am sure that for people directly involved in the incidents the whole ordeal must have been 1000 times worse. Therefore, I'd just like to say that I am very proud of how the Boston police force handled this and I pray for the families of the victims. I genuinely hope that no one has to go through this ever again.
--------------------------
Okay, now onto the real deal!
This is the second part of the On The Runway Fall 2013 RTW series, focused on the Rogan collection. While many people would probably not give this a second glance, due to its laid back and earth tone colored nature, what caught my attention was how wearable everything was.
I know, I know. For some, a wearable collection might be boring to look at compared to a couture collection but these are the types of clothes that I love the most for the autumn season. You think, cozy, comforting, and casual.
As Style.com describes the collection, it has a very unisex uniform type of look. I do think that there are elements that add femininity to it, which make it appear more put together and purposefully done.
Finished yappin'. Let's get onto the garments!!
Click here if you'd like to read the full review OR see the entire collection.
--------------------------
1. The beanie is literally the best accessory for that urban grunge "I don't give a damn" feel and I think it works beautifully with this garment.
2. The jacket is a fun geometric spin on the traditional camo jacket. It has a cleaner look that balances out the softer, more natural shape of the neckline.
3. Almost looks like something from the Men's section of Urban Outfitters. But I kind of like that...who's with me?!
--------------------------
1. Again with the hat. I love it.
2. The "colorblocking" effect is adorable especially because the line between the top and bottom color is curved, giving her a more feminine silhouette.
3. Buttons! I love that it goes from the neckline to the hemline. Gives the garment a little something something extra but isn't an overboard detail.
4. The shape of the garment isn't too boxy or bulky.
--------------------------
1. I would definitely say it's a love or hate piece. I personally love it. Reminds me of overalls but more military uniform inspired and maybe a little safari-esque.
2. Bonus points for the belt. I think keeping it within the same color family helps it not look quite as harsh but it's a little bright enough to break up the khaki green.
3. The little bit of skin showing above the ankle boots is the perfect boundary between cute and frumpy.
4. Samesies with the ankle boots.
--------------------------
1. The draping details add fluidity and this overwhelming sense of comfort.
2. The little thumb hole in the sleeves is an adorable feature.
3. The grey color, although neutral, almost has enough punch on its own to really brighten up the outfit, which would otherwise be completely green-based.
4. The black boots seamlessly flow from her tights, giving her longer legs. Love!
--------------------------
1. Layering is a no-brainer for the colder winter months but I like the idea of layering short sleeved sweatshirt type things with longer sleeved pieces. It's very casual but note the little slit at her elbows. Now that's a winner.
2. I like her pants. I think the vertical lines add the slightest bit of texture and the little colorblocked patch at the bottom is subtle but cute. Plus, the color kind of matches the color of the tops.
--------------------------
1. This really reminds me of a revamped version of the hoodie and sweats combo. Obviously, she isn't wearing sweats but it has that same feel.
2. I like that lines on the front of the hoodie, creating that X shape. It's a little bit different than your average Joe sweatshirt. The fit also adds to the not so frumpy dumpy look that sweatshirts can often have.
3. White pants or white anything will make it much cleaner.
4. Perfect choice of shoes. Not as harsh as a darker brown or black boot. And the socks. I think it's always important to accessorize and I enjoy that this isn't overly cluttered in that sense.
--------------------------
As always, I hope you liked reading this. Let me know if you like this series idea and maybe anything else you'd like to see me write about. I'm open to suggestions :)
Hello! Are you guys surprised to see me back so soon? I certainly am.
April is fast approaching and I already have a feeling that I'm going to be so bogged down with work for the next few weeks that I am actually cringing just thinking about it...
So here's the deal.
I'll be doing a series of "reviews" on some of the Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collections that I found captivating and just overall very inspiring. As always, I would LOVE to hear about the collections you guys fell in love with or even collections that didn't particularly meet your standards.
If you'd like to see the full Style.com review (ahem, it's okay, I won't be offended), click on this link!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My favorite part of this garment is probably the sheer lace detailing on the side of the leather pencil skirt as well as on the collarbone/shoulder area. It's such a nice touch to the sheer blouse and almost has the illusion of an off-the-shoulder vibe.

Absolutely brilliant to have a bit of skin showing on the side of the skirt. It's feminine and sexy but subtle and the leather just adds the right amount of toughness to balance that out.

and oh, let's not even get into the shoes. How perfect.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This look has more structural elements than the first one and is very streamlined as well as clean-cut. I love that the focal point is the lace at her waist area and the lower neckline showcases a healthy amount of cleavage without being overly provocative.
Great piece that incorporated the whole gradient lace effect that was seen in quite a few Spring 2013 couture collections like Elie Saab and Valentino.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Gorgeous high neck piece frames her face perfectly. There's so much fluidity in this garment that it looks as though the fabric might just dissolve into a pool. I love it.

Did anyone else notice the shape of the armholes? I can't express how much I love them. It was cut just enough to cover the top portion of the shoulders, making the arms look slim and oh so elegant.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Long fitted dresses aren't really my cookie of choice BUT this one is quite fun to look at because of the whimsical polka dots and the translucent fabrics. The only thing I don't like about this is how prominent her shoulders look. It might be because of where the fabric was placed but eh.
What really caught my eye was the two sheer portions running down her legs. It gave the illusion of a shorter dress with the solid black velvet and just enough leg to cut the otherwise "vampy" feel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I wouldn't say that this is the most innovative dress in the world but the color is what drew me to this. The different shades of blue added to the textural nature of this dress and it's so vibrant that I'm tempted to mark it off as a Spring/Summer piece.

But it's not.
